Itinerary Management
Itinerary planning is a complex task. To provide guests with the best destination experience and to maximize revenues, many issues must be taken into consideration and a wealth of experience from several departments is required.
Questions like, how is a port perceived by guests, what is the total cost to call there, how much revenue can be made from shore excursions, are there navigational restrictions, what are the visa requirements, is it possible to supply the ship with provisions, and similar questions arise during itinerary meetings. So far, all this information has been difficult to access quickly because it is stored in different formats and locations, or it has never been recorded.
The MXP Itinerary Management software module gives a complete set of tools and all information to support sound decisions and to replace inefficient and error prone manual processes.
- Itinerary planning allowing multiple itineraries for the same cruise.
- Berth request and berth confirmation from port agents.
- Call confirmation to port agents.
- Interfaces to reservation and guest websites.
- Itinerary change control and change notification.
Sound decision making is simplified because MXP can capture everything about a port. This includes:
- Port costs
- Tour revenues
- Navigation details
- Mooring, clearance
- Port agents
- Customs requirements
- Bunkers
- Stevedoring
- Guest services
- Crew services
- Communication
- Provisions
- Management / passenger perception of a port
- Distance matrixes with waypoints automatically calculate speeds between ports and project earliest possible arrival times. Time changes are included in the calculations.
- Fuel consumption is automatically calculated based on a ship's consumption characteristics and the speeds between waypoints. The actual fuel consumption is entered on board and merge replicated back to the office. A report compares budgeted and actual consumptions.
- Changes to the itinerary are fully logged. Users can subscribe to be notified by e-mail should a change occur.
- Automation and batch jobs are fully logged for inquiry and accountability reasons.
Estimated passenger count forecasts can be interfaced from the reservation software. Actual guest and crew counts are entered on board and are merged and replicated back to the office every day.
Labor intensive tasks like checking pier availability, confirming a call, and itinerary change notifications have been made easy by MXP through the integration with the MarineXchange e-commerce portal and the use of batch processing.
